There are some drawbacks of RAW images. You cannot print a RAW image without processing it first. Additionally, they are extremely space hungry. RAW images are unsharpened as a result the image appears less sharp and also less vibrant than processed jpegs.

This allocated space on a hard drive is called Scratch Disk. The problem is that hard drives are typically much slower than RAM, so the best way to use this option is to select the fastest HDD available. Just select the fastest drive in your system.
Of course, if you only have one hard drive, then that would be your only option. Do not, however, try to use external drives or USB sticks as Scratch Disk, because transfer speed would be too slow. This section might look a bit different for Windows or Mac users. Windows users might see a Use Graphic Processor option, enable this if you have a good enough video card.
